Irish Cream Cup O' Joe A La Mode

Pin It The title may be a tongue twister, but this drink goes down smooth! With less than a week until St. Patrick's Day, I thought I would give you one more recipe to get you in the mood. And while I have made several things that are totally kid friendly, this one is for the adults!

Irish Cream Cup O' Joe A La Mode

This coffee drink has a shot of Irish Cream in it and is served a la mode, or with a scoop of ice cream.
{It's not my fault. This lovely Irish Cream was just sitting in my pantry, staring at me!}
I used O' Reillys Irish Cream because that's what I had on hand, but Baileys Irish Cream would also work.

For this cute drink, I used 8.5 oz glasses. It's the perfect size for this drink because your coffee will still be warm, and your ice cream will still be cold. I got these glasses at Bed Bath and Beyond, but I'm sure other stores have similar Irish mugs.

Irish Cream Cup O' Joe A La Mode
     makes 2 drinks
8 oz Strong coffee {I used Starbucks Espresso Roast}
2 oz Irish Cream {O' Reillys or Baileys}
2 Scoops vanilla ice cream
Green sprinkles
Whipped cream {optional}

If you are going to rim the mugs with sprinkles {which I recommend!} you can use green jimmies or nonpareils. Place the sprinkles in a shallow dish, and put a little water in a separate shallow dish. Dip the rim of the mug in the water, then in the sprinkles and move it around until the sprinkles stick. Set the mugs aside.

Brew strong coffee and pour 8 oz in a measuring cup. Add the 2 shots of Irish cream and stir.

Place one scoop of ice cream in each mug. Then pour half of the Irish cream, coffee mixture over each scoop of ice cream. Top with whipped cream {optional} and extra sprinkles.

Come to mama!

If you are making this drink in the evening, decaf coffee would work perfectly if you don't want a caffeine jolt.

So there you have it! What are your plans for fun green holiday?  For lots of other St. Patty's Day ideas, check out my holiday page!

  8. You may want to put a reminder that Irish cream needs to be refrigerated after opening. Sounds yummy!
