This week is the opening week of MLB season. I was watching the Rachael Ray show a few days ago and her guest, Katie Lee, made some ballpark brownies. I thought that was such a fun idea for opening day so I decided to make my own ballpark dessert!
Ballpark Magic Bars
adapted from my white chocolate cranberry coconut bars
1 1/2 C graham cracker crumbs (1 1/2 sleeves )
1/2 C (1 stick) butter, melted
1 C Cracker Jacks or caramel corn
1/2 C roasted peanuts, chopped
1 C pretzel sticks, slightly broken
1/2 C chocolate chips
1 C shredded coconut
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and Put graham crackers in food processor. Grind into crumbs and pour into bowl. Combine with melted butter and press into 9X13 or 7X11 baking dish. Layer on toppings: chocolate chips, caramel corn, pretzels, peanuts, and coconut. They pour sweetened condensed milk over the top. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Let cool completely before cutting so the crust stays together. {Yeah. Good luck with that!}
Whether you call these magic bars, hello dollies, 5 layer bars, or 7 layer bars, the salty and sweet combo in every bite is to die for and perfect for the ballpark!
By the way, do you ever sneak food into places like movie theaters or ball parks? No? Just me? Ok.
We did give the ballpark brownies a try but one thing I wasn't impressed with was that the caramel corn and pretzels lost their bite and did not stay crunchy. Actually, neither did the peanuts. I really liked these bars better because the toppings just stayed more crunchy. But that's just me.
