These no-bake peanut butter cheerio bars are SO easy and fast, they will be your new go-to. They only contain 5 ingredients, and you probably already have all of them in your pantry.
Peanut Butter Cheerio Bars
These have a lot of peanut butter in them, so if you are a PB lover like I am, you will love these! They remind me a lot of my Chewy Candy Corn Nutter Butter Bars, so if you were a fan of those, these will be your new favorite!
My mother-in-law gave me this recipe a while back and I have made these several times. I'm going to give you the recipe two ways. One for a 9X13 baking dish and one for an 8X8 or 7X11 baking dish. I've made both ratios of this recipe and they work great. The reason I have left the serving size range so broad below is because these bars are thick and rich. For that reason, they can be cut smaller, and I think most people would look at these and cut them small. I guess I'm the exception to the rule though. I like my bars BIG, especially when they have peanut butter in them. I never said these were low calorie. But pb? Hello! Healthy fat and protein, right?
Peanut Butter Cheerio Bars {9X13 pan version}
makes 16-20 bars
6 C Cheerios
1 1/4 C light corn syrup
1 1/4 C sugar
2 1/2 C creamy peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
Peanut Butter Cheerio Bars {8X8 or 6x9 pan version}
makes about 8-12 bars
5 C Cheerios
1 C light corn syrup
1 C sugar
2 C creamy peanut butter {16 oz jar works great}
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pour Cheerios in a large bowl and set aside. In a sauce pot over medium-low heat, stir the corn syrup and sugar together until the sugar has dissolved. Stir in the peanut butter and vanilla extract until the peanut butter is warm and melted but do not let mixture come to a bubble. Pour peanut butter mixture over the Cheerios and stir until cereal is coated evenly. Pour mixture into baking dish. Cover with wax paper and press down slightly to make the top look even. Let cool completely before cutting.
These are the perfect game day treat, wether you are having people over or taking them to a tailgate. Have the kiddos wrap them in a square of wax paper and tie a festive ribbon around them. Or drop some school color M&M's in the to make them more festive!
These things would also be great on a party dessert table or at a holiday cookie swap! How would you jazz them up? Maybe throw in some cinnamon and raisins and have them available at brunch? Yum!
This basic recipe is so easy to adapt to your liking. I have a feeling it will be one of your new favorites.
