Home Sweet Home

Pin It Howdy! I thought I would update y'all and tell you what we've been up to. As you already know, Chris and I moved to the Kansas City area in January, so this post is long over due. We were staying with my sister-in-law for a few weeks while we were going through the process of buying a house. Now, I am so proud to say that Chris and I are FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS!

We have been married for almost 3 1/2 years and we were renting a cute little home in Birmingham, AL. And while that was such a great house for us at the time, we are so excited to have something of our own!!

We both decided that we wanted to get back to our roots a little before buying a house and since Chris is from Kansas and I'm from Oklahoma, the Midwest was calling our names.

So about a week ago, we went to sign the paper work and sign our lives away make it official!

Then we headed over to the house to try out the keys!

They worked! :)

Now we are so excited to make our house a HOME! {Aren't the shutters awesome?!}

I have to give a shout out to my sweet in-laws who helped us on moving weekend (and Chris' friends Eric and Dane). Thank you ALL so much! We couldn't have done it with out you!

Also, I caught these AMAZING Kansas sunsets off of our back deck. {One is from the first night in the house, he other is from the second. Sorry, they were just too beautiful not to share}. In Birmingham there are so many hills and trees that we never really got to see sunsets, so it's a special thing to us now!

It immediately reminded of Jason Aldean's song, Fly Over States

"On the plains of Oklahoma
With a windshield sunset in your eyes
Like a watercolored painted sky
You'll think heavens doors have opened
You'll understand why God made
You might even wanna plant your stakes
Those fly over states"

So, now that you've see the house are you ready to see the new Cookin' Cowgirl kitchen?! It might just be my favorite room in the house!

So there you have it! That's where I'll be making y'all my new goodies! Thanks for being patient with me these last few weeks while I didn't post much. I guess you could say I had a lot on my PLATE! :)

We just have to thank God for all the blessing that he has provided to us! We are his grateful disciples and so thankful for everything we have!

By the way, thanks for letting me bombard you with pictures! I had no idea what photos we should take as first time home buyers,or what we would want to remember later, so we just took a bunch!

  10. Gorgeous house -- love the photos - especially the key in the heart! The sunsets in the Great Plains are truly beautiful! (I'm from Nebraska.) I’d love it if you would consider linking with Busy Monday (open Monday through Thursdays) at A Pinch of Joy, a linky party for ideas that make life better, easier and more fun!

  18. Your faces were radiating your happiness. This calls for a celebration! I know I’m a bit late for it. Anyway, I like your house, and how it seems ready and big enough to accommodate the family you’ll be making. :D I hope you won’t encounter first-time homeowner’s common problems, like unexpected need for replacement and repairs that may cost you more.
