Lucky Leprechaun Cookies

I made you something extra special for St. Patrick's Day this year. I apologize in advance, the "story" is pretty silly!

Lucky Leprechaun Cookies
     by Cookin' Cowgirl

There once was a little leprechaun who knew St. Patty's Day was coming up.
He knew he wanted to do some good and bring his friends a wee bit o' luck.
His best ideas always came in his sleep, not when he stared at the clock,
So outside he went to take a nap upon a bed of shamrocks.

He had a dream he wanted to make his friends a little treat.
He wanted them to be green, and he wanted them to be sweet.
He got a little frustrated and his mind was in a shuffle,
For he knew he had already made them his famous thin mint truffles.

He thought real hard and scrunched up his head, his forehead started to wrinkle,
"I want to make some cookies, but I don't want to use any sprinkles."
Then all of a sudden he leapt and smiled, his eye got a little twinkle,
"Hooray," he said, "I know what I'll do, I make the cookies crinkle!"

He baked and baked, and baked some more, till he was tired down to his socks,
But he didn't mind because he knew they'd be the best cookies on the block!
He was sure their bright color and crinkly top would peak his friend's interest,
"They will love them so much, I just have a feeling they will even pin them on pinterest!"

"Success!" he thought, these cookies will bring them more luck than four leaf clovers,
People would be talking about them at least 'till next October.
So he packed up the cookies and put them in his little delivery truck,
And he passed them out to all of his friends to bring them lots o' good luck!

My sister, Jenny, came up with a little "Leprechaun Limerick" for y'all too! :) She's awesome!

I can't wait 'til it’s St Patty's!
Friends will call me Little Fatty…
I'll eat every last mint truffle,
And then dance the Cupid Shuffle,
Whilst being scolded by my daddy.

So, whether you are celebrating St. Patrick's Day, Fake Patty's Day, or just March 17th, give these cookies a try. Or, check out my Holiday Ideas page for more great stuff!
